Chinna Vengaya Sambhar (Baby Onions Sambhar)

Chinna Vengaya Sambhar

Ingredients:

1. Chinna Vengayam (baby onion) – few

2. Tomatoes – 4

3. Toor dhal (boiled and mashed) – little

4. Tamarind extract – little

5. Mustard

6. Asafoetida

7. Red Chilly – 2

8. Salt

9. Sambhar powder

10. Chilli powder – little

11. Turmeric powder

12. Ghee

13.  Oil

14. Coriander leaves

How to prepare:

1. In a small kadai, heat ghee and fry onions, till they become glassy

2. In a bigger kadai, heat oil, add mustard, asafoetida, red chillies.

3. Add water (Caution: it may cause smoke)

4. Add chopped tomatoes and let it boil.

5. Add onions to mixture and allow to cook.

6. Add sambar powder, salt, turmeric powder and little chilli powder.

7. Add toor dhal and tamarind extract.

8. After it boils, add coriander leaves.

9. Tasty chinna vengayam sambhar is ready. 

10. It can be had with rice or idly or dosas
