Vathakulambu

Ingredients:

Tamarind juice.

tomatoes, onions, red chillis, garlic.

toor dal – little

Asofaetida, Mustard seeds

salt, turmeric powder, sambhar powder (Click here to know how to prepare Sambhar Powder)

jaggery

How to make:

a. Heat little oil in a pan and add mustard seeds to it.

b. Add 2 red chillies, toor dal (little), garlic(finely chopped or crushed).

c. Add onions.

d. Once the onions are fried, add tomatoes.

e. Add salt to taste, turmeric powder, asafetida.

f. Add sambhar powder.

g. Add tamarind juice. On adding this, it comes to the usual dark brown color.

h. If its very much tangy, add little jaggery.

i. Let it boil.

j. Add some oil and serve.

k. potato curry goes well with this.
